State celebrates significant economic impact of TMMWV
Several hundred gathered at Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia (TMMWV) in Buffalo to celebrate the company’s tenth year in the Mountain State. When Toyota broke ground in 1996, plans called for just 300 employees. Today, the plant in Buffalo employs more than 1,000 team members who manufacture engines and automatic transmissions. In less than a decade, the Buffalo plant has expanded five times and invested close to $1 billion in the State. That’s not counting the roughly 80 local suppliers that the plant sustains, pumping $41 million into the State’s economy.
At the request of Senator Rockefeller, officials from Toyota Motor Corporation participated in one of the Foundation’s earliest trade missions—organized to showcase the State to potential investors.
